Challenge2006

Challenge 2006: Friendship Crossing

This year's challenge required that the contestants complete their quilt with a friend and use the theme, "Friendship." They had to use a freindship star within the quilt as well. The results are fabulous and so creative! Enjoy as you view them!

Winners!
Margie Piccolo and Thea Zittel with their winning quilt!

Margie and Thea
"Friendship at Quilter's Crossing" by Margie Piccolo and Thea Zittel - FIRST PLACE
This quilt depict the atmosphere at Quilter's Crossing, capturing even our own Gracie as she plays on the floor! The surrounding blocks are made from the various classes that Margie and Thea took at Quilter's Crossing...the log cabin from Jane Gherardi's Winter Pine, the Convergence technique and Circle Play taught by Susan Osinoff.

Maria and Susan
"Quilting Friends Make Magic Out of an Ordinary Day" by Maria Weinstein and Susan Osinoff - SECOND PLACE
Maria and Susan's quilt is a fusible applique version of Ruth McDowell's When Quilter's Gather. It is particularly touching as they added a remembrance of Mary DelSavio, an avid quilter and long time member of the HEritage Quilter's of the Hudson Palisades.

Thea and Margie
"Live, Learn and Pass It On through Friendship" by Ellen Van Howling and Thea Zittel- VIEWER'S CHOICE

Jennifer
"Things Freinds Do Together!" by Jennifer Lorenzo and her "peeps" (Kathleen, Lucrisha and Jennifer J.)

Barbara and Michael
"Michael's Friends" by Barbara Berdy and Michael
This quilt was designed by Barbara's 10 year old grandson, Michael. Great art work, Michael!

"Quilting Buddies:Sticking Our Necks Out Together" by Rosemary Giordano and Ellen Van Howling

"Always Friends" by Beverly Lane and Hilda Haynes-Lewis
